MY PHILOSOPHY: It is my belief that while we are influenced by our social system, we have the power and capability to learn and implement new ways of thinking, acting and reacting.  My role as your therapist is to provide you with a non-judgmental environment and relationship to explore current issues, while also supporting you through the change process in order to achieve your goals.  During our sessions, I will help you discover new ways to cope, and we will explore opportunities to incorporate more positive influences into your life.  I enjoy working with families or couples to ease communication blocks and to enhance understanding of how to manage individual feelings and needs while still remaining connected to the family system.  I have been trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and use DBT and other Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques to help you change ineffective behaviors so that you have a life worth living.

MY EXPERIENCE: My professional aid career began in 2008 when I accepted a position teaching and tutoring children.  During this time, my students helped me to realize my passion for helping others and my aptitude for providing emotional support.  From then on, I decided to pursue my career in counseling.  While pursuing my Masters degree at The College of New Jersey, I studied mental health counseling and marriage and family counseling, with a specialization in substance abuse and addiction studies.  My experience includes working with children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of settings, including in Partial Hospitalization, Intensive Outpatient, Detox, Residential programming, and in-home settings.

SERVICES PROVIDED: Individual, Group, Family counseling, and Couples counseling

AGES I WORK WITH: Children (10 – 12 years old, younger children on a case by case basis), Adolescents (13 – 18 years old), Adults (18+ years old)

COMMON ISSUES ADDRESSED: I have extensive experience working with individuals who struggle with Adjustment Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Bipolar Disorders, Borderline Personality Disorder, Depressive Disorders, Family and Relationship Conflict, Self Harm, Substance Use and Addictions, and Trauma related disorders
